Sonia Suedfeld

A former newspaper reporter
who grew up in Ontario, Canada, Sonia Suedfeld now lives with her family near the mountains in British Columbia where
she writes crime, mystery and mainstream fiction in her spare time. Many of her short stories have won awards and prizes
and been published online and in print over the years. Recently, her story "Storm" came in 33rd out of 100 winners in the mainstream category of Writer's Digest's 78th Annual Writing Competition, "Ambush" received a commendation in the 2009 Yeovil Literary Prize, and "Checkout" was published on Every Day Fiction's website. As well, "The Picture in the Window" was a finalist in the fall 2008 Writer's Circle of Durham Region's Short Fiction Contest and "Expert Advice" won the People's Choice Award through public voting after it was selected as 1 or 5 finalists in the summer 2008 Warren Adler Short Story Contest. Her work has also appeared on www.spinetinglers.co.uk, in "The Silken Tongue", issue 14 of  www.firstwriter.com, and several anthologies,
to
name a few.

Other stories were short-listed, became finalists or received honourable mentions by writing competitions, publications and websites such as Fish Publishing, Scene of the Crime, Cape Fear Crime Festival, Saint Louis Short Story Contest and wow-womenonwriting.com.
As well, her first crime
novel Dead in the Water received an Honourable Mention in the international Mount Arrowsmith novel-writing
competition in 2006.

These days when she isn’t spending time with her family and working on a half dozen short stories
at any one time, she can also be
found hard at work on a
second novel, a suspense thriller.
